Care and Repair Wakefield is a confidential service run by Chevin Housing Association to provide advice and assistance to older homeowners, people with disabilities of any age and low income households to carry out repairs, improvements or adaptations to their homes. • Advice about repairs, improvements and adaptations.
  • Help with all types of grant applications.
  • Support during and after the application, as well as during and after the work has proceeded.
  • Help in finding reliable builders and obtain estimates for the work.
  • Advice on methods of paying for the work and helping you to obtain the necessary finance.

Care and Repair is funded by:

  • Chevin Housing Association
  • Department for Communities and Local Government
  • City of Wakefield Metropolitan District Council

If you would like further information on what our Care and repair team can offer you, please contact our customer services team on 0845 270 1088.

Care and Repair charges

Care and Repair advisory services are free and confidential. Under current Home Improvement Grant Regulations a fee can be charged when using agency services which will be added to the costs of work and the grant assistance will reflect this amount.

Care and Repair is there to advise and assist but the final decision is for the resident to make.

Grants available

Some improvements and repairs qualify for the grant from the Local Authority. If a grant is not available, Care and Repair can assist with finding the right contractor and finance for the work.

If the work that needs doing does qualify for a grant, we will process the application. The availability of Local Authority grants varies from area to area and Care and Repair will advise on eligibility for grant assistance.
