Community Driving Projects

Since 2000, as part of Chevin's investment in its communities and to support residents into work or training, we have co-ordinated several community driving projects. The model is based around car driving skills and so far 151 young people aged 17-25 have taken part.
Driving School partnerships have been developed in various communities where Chevin have stock including inner-cities, rural areas and former mining communities. Work is currently underway to develop a new scheme in Thurnscoe near Barnsley.
These projects form part of our re-engagement and training programme. The partnerships have all had membership from the local community, local Police, and other Registered Social Landlords and housing providers.
