Chevin Skillsbuild Construction Training

Chevin has a strong commitment to supporting and encouraging balanced, diverse communities and tackling social and economic exclusion.  As part of this work we have opened a construction training centre in Fitzwilliam, near Pontefract to enable us to work with young people and provide them with skills that they can take into the workplace and develop throughout the rest of their lives.

We work with a number of local partners on the following projects:

  • Workstart - specialised constrcution training for 14-16 year olds
  • Entry to Employment Construction Training - a unique partnership project with Wakefield College designed to help young people between 16-19 who are not in employment or training
  • Re-engagement Construction Training - an alternative to classroom teaching that uses construction as a way back into the learning environment
  • Wakefield Homebuilder Gateway Programme - a partnership with Wakefield Homebuilder and Wakefield Adult Education that is designed to enable unemployed and disadvantaged young people to access paid jobs
  • Young Apprenticeship Programme - provides on-site construction experience for 14-16 year olds who want to progress into a career in construction

For more information about any of these projects please contact Janine Ingle, Regeneration Manager, on 0845 2701088 or janine.ingle@togetherhousing.co.uk
