Home Content Insurance

Why Bother?

If you have been the victim of fire, flood or theft, you will know all too well just how important Home Contents Insurance is and how costly it can be if you don't have it. Chevin Housing Association strongly encourages all of its tenants to take out Home Contents Insurance. Chevin tenants can sign up to the My Home insurance scheme and have all of their personal belongings insured for a very low cost. As of January 2010, the My Home insurance scheme will also give tenants the option to obtain accidental damage cover for a low cost. Ten reasons to join the My Home Contents Insurance Scheme include the following:

  • 1. Flexible, regular pay-as-you-go options
  • 2. No fuss, quick and easy to apply either through the post or over the telephone
  • 3. No excess (you do not pay the first pay of the claim)
  • 4. Covers theft, water damage and fire
  • 5. Covers damage to internal decorations
  • 6. Covers accidental damage to sanitary fixtures such as toilets and washbasins
  • 7. Covers damage to external glazing for which you are responsible
  • 8. Covers lost or stolen keys and freezer contents
  • 9. You don't need to have special door or window locks
  • 10. All postcodes are included

You can get further details on how to apply for Home Contents Insurance from your Housing Officer or by clicking on one of the links, but remember... IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A HOME CONTENTS INSURANCE POLICY, CHEVIN WILL NOT COVER YOUR POSSESSIONAL LOSSES IN THE EVENT OF FIRE, FLOOD OR THEFT
