Spring Interaction event a great success

Resident panel members, senior staff and board members of Chevin Housing attended a Spring Interaction event in early April at the Brooklands Hotel in Barnsley.

The event was organised as a result of feedback from our resident panel members who said that they would like the opportunity to be able to discuss their views with senior staff and board members.

The day started with an interactive presentation from Steve Close, Group Chief Executive and Denis Creaghan, Deputy Group Chief Executive inviting attendees to vote on various issues through their own key pads.  Issues discussed were our vision/values and aims, external issues currently facing housing organisations like the Housing Bill going through Parliament and the tenant satisfaction survey results.  Following this there was the chance for everyone to ask any questions in a question and answer session.

Lunch was provided followed by workshops throughout the afternoon on various subjects: Taking resident involvement to the next level, Influence, impact and improvement, You're the judge (an Anti Social Behaviour role play), Spend! Spend! Spend (value for money and how we spend our money).  All of the workshops were interactive using digital voting and attendees attended two workshops of their choice.

The day finished with a summary of the event and some headline results from the workshop voting were displayed.  Everyone who attended said they really enjoyed it and found it useful to be able to talk to senior staff and board members and be open about some of the issues that they come across being a resident.

Steve Close, Group Chief Executive said "It was an excellent, well organised event which brought members of the resident panels, Board members and staff together to discuss our work and to look at how we can improve our services. I think everyone who attended got something out of the day and we will certainly be looking to build on this for future development days".

We are now working through the information received during the day and discussing how best to use it in our future work.
